the visible rule

The marks, tokens, and measures that keep every page of Digital Alchemists sounding like one voice. A working document — not decoration, but the grammar of the work.

§ 01

The mark, in three states.

One vessel, three moments of the work. Sealed · Apex is the primary mark — the orbit drawn full, the dot risen to the top, the work reached. The other two show what came before it: the original static Mark (still in production), and Sealed, the dot mid-orbit. Same vessel throughout.

§ 01 · 01

The Mark

Primary · emblem + wordmark · default

The canonical mark. A circle vessel, an upward triangle, an orbit drawn full, the burgundy dot risen to the apex. Two ochre tick-marks at the equator mark a measured path. The work, reached. Used for the wordmark lockup and everywhere the brand identifies itself.

§ 01 · 02

The Mark · Static

Predecessor · in production · pre-Apex

The static predecessor. The dot sits at the centre of the triangle — prima materia held in the vessel, before the orbit. Still live across pages that have not yet been updated; deprecated in favour of Apex.

§ 01 · 03

The Mark · Sealed

In-progress state · the work, mid-arc

The dot has left centre but not yet reached the top — the orbit is dashed, the motion implied. Prima materia in motion. Use this whenever you need to signal work-in-progress: live engagements, status pages, in-product banners.

The Alembic

A "DA" ligature nested inside the silhouette of a distilling flask. For avatars, spines, envelope wax — anywhere one compact glyph has to carry the whole brand. The neck doubles as the crossbar of the A.

§ 02

Reading the mark.

The mark is not decorative. Every line in it stands for something the company actually does — the mission, rendered in geometry.

Digital Alchemists transforms information into impact. Three movements, one arc: transmute raw inputs into leverage, heal broken systems, and embed judgment so it outlives the people who built it.

The circle is the vessel. The triangle is the work. The burgundy point is the brief — your raw material, held at the centre of the practice.

The circle is the engagement — the closed container in which the work happens. Nothing leaks; what enters is accounted for. The triangle is the alchemical sign for fire and ascent: the operation that changes one thing into another. Pointed up, it is coagulation — refining and combining. Pointed down, it is dissolution — the diagnosis that must come first.

The burgundy point is your prima materia: the brief, the data, the tacit judgment of your best operators. It is the only colour we raise our voice for, because it is the only thing the work is ever about.

Read together: a vessel containing an operation, performed on the brief. That is the company in one glyph.

§ 03

The palette.

Ink on paper is the law. Burgundy is the only voice raised. Verdigris and ochre are rare — reserved for status, accent, and the gilded edge. Neutrals do the heavy lifting; named hues appear on purpose.

§ 04

The voice.

Two typefaces, total. Cormorant Garamond carries everything the reader reads; JetBrains Mono carries everything the reader measures. Italic is meaningful — it's where the burgundy accent lives.

Cormorant Garamond Body

We think of a brief as prima materia: the raw, undifferentiated stuff of the problem. The work is to separate, to purify, to recombine — until what remains is dense enough to deliver.

§ 04 · case system · proposal

One voice, one case.

The current wordmark mixes DIGITAL (uppercase) with alchemists (lowercase). Five ways to unify the system — each resolves the mix with a single coherent case philosophy.

Option · A
all lowercase
the bookish one

No uppercase anywhere. Italic and burgundy do the accenting. Most monastic; reads like a private notebook.

§ 05

Clear space · minimum size.

The mark keeps its own room. One unit of clear space all around — measured by the mark's own height. Never smaller than the minimum; never placed on a surface that fights it.

§ 06

Use, and misuse.

A short list. If something isn't mentioned here, apply the general rule: the work is quiet. If in doubt, make it quieter.

+ do
  • Place the mark on paper, ink, or midnight — the three sanctioned surfaces.
  • Keep burgundy for one thing at a time on any given view.
  • Italicize the operative word in titles. Never more than one per title.
  • Let mono labels carry coordinates, dates, and file numbers — never prose.
  • Pair the mark with clear space equal to its own height, always.
× don't
  • Recolour the mark. Ink or paper only. Ochre and verdigris are not logo colours.
  • Set the wordmark in anything but Cormorant Garamond.
  • Add drop shadows, bevels, or glow. The mark is flat and drawn.
  • Italicize nouns, proper names, or whole paragraphs for emphasis.
  • Mix two accents on one surface — burgundy competes with itself.
§ 07

Motion, measured.

Motion is orbital: slow periods, sixty seconds or longer, and always ambient. Nothing bounces, nothing springs. Transitions are linear in intention, eased in execution.

§ 06 · 01

Orbit

Long ambient rotations behind the content — the sigil rail. Always slow, always linear, never a focal point.

§ 06 · 02

Ingress

Elements arrive with a small fade and a two-pixel lift. Eased out; never more than 400 ms. Staggered by 40 ms.

§ 06 · 03

State

Hover, focus, and active — all under 200 ms. Colour fades; borders brighten. No scale, no shadow bloom.
